The Nomad Playhouse and Maya Productions present THREE RINGS, a new play by Ami Dayan.
A long, long time ago and far, far away, there were hostilities and conflicts between Christians, Muslims, and Jews…
THREE RINGS is a modern retelling of Nathan the Wise (first published in 1779). A fervent plea for religious tolerance between Christians, Muslims, and Jews, the play is both timeless and uncannily timely in America of 2017. A rare exploration of shared humanity in the face of complex racial and religious taboos and interfaith divisions, THREE RINGS offers a hopeful vision that a destiny of unity among humankind can be imagined, and must be pursued, offering reconciliation and communion as antidotes to distrust, hostility, religious persecution and violence. The play addresses universal themes such as friendship, tolerance, the search for spiritual identity, the relative nature of God and the need for authentic human communication to dissolve xenophobia and hate. THREE RINGS illuminates a moment when a wise Jewish merchant, the enlightened Muslim Sultan Saladin, and a rebellious Christian Templar bridged the gaps between Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
Appropriate for audiences of ages 5 - 105.
